An Educational Summer

An Educational Summer

It seems like we spent the whole summer of 2012 back in school. We worked with three different educational institutions on multiple events.

Preparing for Kendall College of Art and Design Commencement

Summer started early, May to be exact, with a week’s worth of events for Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids. We provided audio support for the soft opening of the newly refurbished Federal Building, which becomes classroom and gallery space for Kendall this fall. We created honorary videos and produced the live event for the Kendall Distinguished Alumni Awards banquet. That was followed by directing the audio/visual elements of the Kendall graduation ceremony at Fountain Street Church. We capped the week with a black tie gala called “Resonance” honoring outgoing president Dr. Oliver Evans. An intimate evening at the University Club with live music, video testimonials and heartfelt thanks was enjoyed by all in attendance. That particular event was in the planning stages for almost two years, so it was a wonderful feeling to see it all come off so well.

The stage set for NHA New Teacher Training general sessions at DeVos Performance Hall

Mid-summer reunited us with long time client National Heritage Academies. We produced several live events over a two week span forĀ  NHA University and New Teacher Training. The most intense one was an all day event for principals that featured multiple presenters with a variety of PowerPoint presentations and video rolls. We had one A/V feed for the audience in attendance at the Amway Grand Plaza Ambassador Ballroom. We then took that feed, mixed in two live HD cameras and sent that out as a live stream over the internet. The tech crew did a remarkable job in making it all happen.

We finished off the season with Opening Day ceremonies for the Allegan Area Educational Service Agency. We created humorous video roll-ins and photo montages to welcome back almost 300 educators at the early morning event held at The Silo in Allegan. One teacher commented, “It was the best Opening Day we’ve ever had.”
